Rau tinkering rather than delivering
Liberal Shadow Attorney-General, Stephen Wade, today accused the Government of tinkering around the edges to distract from its inability to make decisions.
Mr Wade was responding to the Attorney-General’s announcement that the Government will tighten regulation ofpeople who train security guards to keep criminals out of the industry.
“Security guards are already required to obtain a licence and undergo police checks before working in the industry. This proposal seems to be fixing an oversight in the original bill.”
“But its not the main game”, Mr Wade said.
“We are still waiting for the Government’s revised legislation to deal with serious and organised crime following the High Court case in November last year.
“The Government has announced nine Attorney-General’s Department reviews since the election – but none has lead to an outcome.
“The SA Labor Government has shuffled the chairs but it has not overcome the fact that it is tired and ineffective”.
