Who knew what and when about Oakden?

The State Liberals are demanding Minister Vlahos and Minister Snelling open their office records to an independent forensic audit to uncover all the documentation relating to the Oakden scandal.

“Minister Vlahos claims there was a culture of cover-up amongst the workers at Oakden yet she failed to reveal the existence of critical documents as to when she was first informed of concerns about Oakden,” said Shadow Minister for Health Stephen Wade.

“Minister Vlahos failed to reveal the fact she was first warned of the very real possibility of death and serious injury at Oakden as long ago as December 2014.

“Minister Vlahos was dragged kicking and screaming to release the Stafrace and Lilly Report that had alerted the State Government to at least 13 ‘serious issues’ which have never been addressed.

“What other warnings are buried lurking in Minister Vlahos’ files?

“Similarly Minister Snelling has been completely silent about the scandal engulfing Oaken despite being the responsible Minister between January 2013 and January 2016.

“It is critical that the South Australian public understand exactly how much information was provided to both Ministerial offices and what action was taken regarding the information provided.

“A forensic audit of all correspondence, briefing notes and reports would reveal what level of culpability Ministers Vlahos and Snelling have in respect of the Oakden scandal.

“Some of South Australia’s most vulnerable citizens have been shockingly let down by the system and we need to discover who was responsible for a decade of neglect and abuse.”
